How I stopped asking for rescue — and started asking for direction.+
Waiting on God vs. Walking With God
For a long time, I thought faith meant waiting.
Waiting for the struggle to end.
Waiting for the miracle.
Waiting for God to swoop in and fix everything.
So I waited.
And waited.
And while I waited, life kept happening — bills, anxiety, loneliness, and decisions I was too afraid to make.
And I started to wonder…
Is God really silent? Or have I just been standing still?
🔍 The Problem With Passive Faith
A lot of us confuse patience with passivity.
We say we’re “waiting on God,” but what we really mean is:
- “I’m too scared to move.”
- “I don’t want to get it wrong.”
- “I’m hoping this pain just goes away.”
- “I want someone else to choose for me.”
But throughout Scripture, God didn’t just show up for people — He walked with them.
He walked with Moses through the wilderness.
He walked with David through heartbreak.
He walked with Jesus — even to the cross.
👣 Faith Isn’t Just Waiting — It’s Walking
God rarely hands over the blueprint.
But He does light the next step.
Walking with God means:
- Moving even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed
- Praying while you act — not just before
- Trusting that God meets you in motion, not just in silence
🔁 What I Changed
I stopped saying:
- “God, fix this.”
And started saying: - “God, guide me. Strengthen me while I move.”
I still pray. Still hope. Still believe.
But now I walk while I wait.
I plan. I work. I knock on doors. I rest when called to.
And I listen — not just for answers, but for alignment.
🔓 Faith in Action Is Still Faith
Some days, faith means getting on your knees.
Other days, it means getting back up.
Waiting on God isn’t wrong — but if it becomes an excuse to delay obedience, you’re no longer in faith. You’re in fear.
✍️ Your Move: Ask This
Before your next big decision, don’t just ask:
- “God, what should I do?”
Also ask:
“God, how do You want me to walk with You through this?”
You’ll be surprised at the peace that comes when you stop begging for rescue — and start walking with your Rescuer.
📖 Verse to Reflect On:
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
— Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
