You Are Not What You’ve Been Through

Finding your identity in God, not your wounds, past, or performance.

Shame has a voice.
It says, “You’re broken.”
“You’re too far gone.”
“You’ll never be more than what happened to you.”

But heaven speaks louder.

God doesn’t call you by your mistake — He calls you by your name.

🧠 When Trauma Becomes Identity

It’s easy to become:

  • The abandoned one
  • The addict
  • The angry one
  • The unqualified
  • The one who “used to be” something

We start living as if our story is our identity.

But Scripture says something radically different:

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new is here.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

🔥 God Uses People With Pasts

  • Moses was a murderer — and became a deliverer.
  • Rahab was a prostitute — and ended up in Jesus’ lineage.
  • Peter denied Jesus — and led the early Church.
  • Paul persecuted Christians — and wrote half the New Testament.

Your history doesn’t disqualify you — it’s the setup for your calling.

God doesn’t need you polished. He just needs you willing.

🛠️ How to Reclaim Your Identity in Christ

1. Speak what Scripture says — not your shame.

“I am redeemed. I am chosen. I am forgiven. I am called.”

2. Separate the event from your essence.

What happened to you is real, but it is not you.

3. Anchor your name in God’s Word.

Let His voice define you louder than your critics or inner doubts.

📖 Verse to Reflect On:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
— Isaiah 43:1

✍️ Your Move: Leave the Label Behind

You’re not the trauma.
You’re not the divorce.
You’re not the failure.
You’re not the addiction.
You’re not the mistake.

You are His.
You are new.
You are restored, even if you’re still in the middle of it.

🙌 If this hit home…
